Well, I just leased my first 40 cy dumpster. Well, technically, a “roll-away.” Isn’t she a beauty?
This week has been filled with contractors.
Lots and lots of contractors.
Each one arrives with a tape measure, a flashlight and another reminder that renovating an 1889 building is not for the faint of heart.
Ceilings need to be replaced. Walls need to be replaced. Floors need to be replaced. At this point, I am beginning to wonder whether the building itself would like to be replaced.
It is overwhelming. Every decision seems connected to five others, and somehow they all lead back to the budget.
So, I am taking it one step at a time—and starting with the outside first. The roof and siding work begins next week, giving this beautiful old house the protection it needs before we tackle everything waiting inside.
There will be dust, noise, ladders and probably more surprises. But beneath all of it, I can still see what La Chic Chef is becoming: a warm, welcoming place filled with food, laughter and people gathering together.
It will be beautiful.
But, oh my—getting there is going to be quite the adventure.
