The Kindness That Keeps Me Going

Some weeks, renovation projects, permits, budgets, inventory, emails, and endless to-do lists seem to arrive all at once.

This has been one of those weeks.

There have been moments when I’ve looked around at the construction dust, the stacks of boxes, the unanswered questions, and wondered if I’ll ever reach the day when I can finally unlock the front door and welcome everyone inside.

Building a dream is exciting.

It is also exhausting.

What has surprised me most, though, isn’t the workload. It’s the kindness.

Everywhere I go in Leesburg, someone asks, “How’s the shop coming?” Contractors have offered advice. Local business owners have shared their experiences. Friends have checked in. People I’ve only met once stop me to say they’re excited to visit La Chic Chef when we open.

Those conversations matter more than you probably realize.

On the days when my energy is running low, they remind me why I’m doing this.

La Chic Chef has never just been about cooking. It has always been about creating a place where people gather, celebrate, learn something new, and leave feeling happier than when they arrived.

That’s worth every late night.

So today, instead of focusing on everything that still needs to be done, I wanted to simply say…

Thank you.

Thank you for cheering me on.

Thank you for believing in this little French-inspired dream.

Thank you for reminding me that I’m not building it alone.

I cannot wait for the day when I can finally welcome you through the doors, pour you a cup of coffee (or perhaps a glass of wine), and say, “You helped make this happen.”

Until then, I’ll keep moving one project, one recipe, one room, and one step at a time.

With gratitude,

Chef Liz
